COCA Research Days

For the past 6 years (2012 -2017) COCA Research Ltd has sponsored and run a Research Day.

In 2018 COCA Research Ltd will again host a Research Day on the Friday 31/8 preceding the Chiropractic Australia/COCA National Conference at Rydges Central Sydney, 28 Albion Street, Surry Hills.  Further information and an application form can be found here: Research Day Program & Registration Form.

The Research Days are open to chiropractors and osteopaths currently undertaking research or others researching questions directly related to chiropractic or osteopathic practice.

The aims for these  days are:

  1. To provide a forum for research collaboration in the chiropractic and osteopathic community
  2. To share information about the participant’s research
  3. To provide an opportunity to learn about the research of others.

On the inaugural Researchers’ Day Professor Chris Maher (University of Sydney) gave four presentations which are available here:

  1. Applying For A Grant
  2. Designing An RCT Protocol I (The Context)
  3. Designing An RCT Protocol II
  4. Research Career

Since it began the COCA Research Days have given participants the opportunity to hear from a range of esteemed speakers including Nobel prize winner, Professor Peter Doherty (University of Melbourne), Professor Jan Hartvigsen (University of Southern Denmark), Professor Charlotte Leboeuf-Yde (University of Southern Denmark) as well as Professor Ian Harris  (Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, UNSW) and Professor Jon Adams (UTS). Other international presenters have included Professor Gert Bronfort (University of Minnesota) and Associate Professor Roni Evans (University of Minnesota).

These speakers have all presented aspects of their own research and provided valuable insights and tips on how they developed their research careers.
