For the past two years (2012 -2013) COCA’s Research Fund has sponsored and run a Researchers’ Day.
The Researchers’ Days have been held on the Friday immediately preceding the October weekend on which COCA holds its annual conference and are open to chiropractors and osteopaths currently undertaking research or others researching questions directly related to chiropractic or osteopathic practice.
The aims for these days are:
- To provide a forum for research collaboration in the chiropractic and osteopathic community
- To share information about the participant’s research
- To provide an opportunity to learn about the research of others.
On the inaugural Researchers’ Day Professor Chris Maher (University of Sydney) gave four presentations which are available here:
- Applying For A Grant
- Designing An RCT Protocol I (The Context)
- Designing An RCT Protocol II
- Research Career
The second Researchers Day held in October 2013 gave participants the oppurtunity to hear from Nobel prize winner, Professor Peter Doherty (University of Melbourne), as well as Professor Jane Gunn (University of Melbourne), Associate Professor Meredith Temple-Smith (University of Melbourne) and Professor Charlotte Leboeuf-Yde (University of Southern Denmark). These speakers presented aspects of their own research and provided insights and tips on how they developed their research careers.
The date for the 2014 Researchers’ Day is Friday 10th October. The venue will be the Park Royal Darling Harbour, Sydney. Further information will be available closer to the day.
