Constant scrutiny by the scientific community, government agencies and third party payers has led to the need to justify treatments and diagnostic methods in all areas of healthcare. There is no area where this is more evident than in the diagnosis and management of musculo-skeletal conditions.

It is with this philosphy in mind that we have produced this module addressing the issues of an evidence based approach to spinal pain. We are extremely fortunate to have two of the worlds leading authorities in spinal pain diagnosis and management as our keynote speakers, Professor Alf Nachemson and Professor Nicolai Bogduk, who will challenge your views on many issues relating to spinal pain.

In conjunction with these two speakers we have assembled from other disciplines some of Australia’s most eminent researchers and clinicians who will round out the module and provide a balanced view of this evidence based approach to spinal pain.

Includes presentations from the keynote speakers:

Professor Alf Nachemson addresses the topics Conservative Treatment of Low Back Pain, Is Surgery Ever Indicated for Low Back Pain? and Back Pain in the Next Millenium.

Professor Nikolai Bogduk covers material about Neck Pain: An Anatomical Basis, Evidence Based Diagnosis and Evidence Based Therapy.

The module also includes presentations from the following practitioners, who are leading the field in the evidence-based medicine arena:
Associate Professor Gwen Jull, Professor Geoffrey Littlejohn, Professor Jennifer Jamison, Dr Ray Hayek, Dr David Moor, Dr Bruce Walker, Dr. Peter Tuchin, Dr. Henry Pollard.
