TAC Information for People With Soft Tissue Injuries

In consultation with peak professional bodies, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has developed a booklet for TAC clients who have primarily suffered a soft tissue injury. The booklet, TAC Information for people with soft tissue injuries, defines soft tissue injuries in simple terms and provides realistic expectations for recovery. It encourages TAC clients to play an active role in their recovery and aims to help these clients work with their health care professionals and the TAC to manage their pain, get moving again and return to the activities they enjoy.

The key message is that resting at home and waiting for the pain to go away simply doesn’t work.

Written in line with current clinical justification strategies, the booklet encourages TAC clients to work with health care professionals to measure their progress. It contains handy hints for clients to manage their injuries, advice on dealing with worry and depression and instructions on what to do if clients are not getting better. The booklet can be used as a basis for discussion with health care professionals.

The booklet is available from 14 January and will be distributed to clients with soft tissue injuries when their TAC claim has been accepted - no later than three months after their accident. To request a copy please call the TAC on 1300 654 329.

NB: TAC’s Jurisdiction is Victoria Only.
