The Leader of the “Revolution” is Coming!
Professor Gordon Waddell credited with being one of the leaders of the back pain “revolution” is coming to Australia as the keynote speaker at the COCA 6th Biennial Conference in Melbourne 8-9 October 2005.
Professor Waddell who has been at the forefront of back research for over 20 years and most notably one of the key advocates of the biopsychosocial approach to the management of back pain will address the COCA conference on the shift from the mechanistic to biopsychosocial model for managing back pain and other musculoskeletal conditions.
The work of Professor Waddell and his colleagues has been instrumental in changing the focus of back pain management and rehabilitation for all practitioners who treat patients with this condition and other forms of chronic musculoskeletal pain. The contemporary approach changes the focus to view how the condition has impacted upon the patient not only physically but also psychologically and socially as well. This “revolution” has greatly altered how practitioners who treat musculoskeletal conditions approach their patients.
Professor Waddell will speak on a variety of topics at the conference. He will also conduct an interactive session and sit on the Grand Rounds Panel.
Further details regarding the conference program will be forwarded shortly. Mark your diaries now for what should be a great week-end.
Prof Gordon Waddell CBE, DSc, MD, FRCS.
