Murdoch University Chiropractic Clinic Opens
By Jo-Anne Maire DC, MPhil, MTrainDev.

On Monday 9th May, 2005, construction was initiated by Murdoch University for the future home of the School of Chiropractic Clinic. The doors opened for the first patient on 1st August, 2005.

The 600 sq. metre facility boasts 11 treatment rooms, 4 consultation rooms, a state of the art digital diagnostic imaging suite, a 3 bed physiological therapeutics room and a 150 sq. metre rehabilitation centre with all the bells and whistles.

Eight desktop computers with internet connection in the students’ area facilitate research and data input for all patient records. Laptops in treatment rooms have wireless connection to a server where all patient records are kept electronically.

The full service teaching clinic is open from 7:30am to 11:30am and 2:00pm to 6:30pm on Monday-Friday and 8:00am to 12:00pm on Saturdays.

The students are excited to begin applying the skills they have developed up to this point of their education. They are supervised at all stages of patient management by Chiropractors from the Perth area and academic staff.

Ms Dorinda McKay, practice manager, and Dr Keith Simpson BA(Hons), DC, PhD, acting clinic director, hit the ground running on Monday, and haven’t stopped since.

The official launch will take place on the 2nd of September, 2005.
