COCA Supports World Low Back & Pelvic Pain Conference
We are fortunate that Melbourne has been chosen to host the 5th World Congress on Low Back & Pelvic Pain on 10-13 November 2004. The Congress series started in San Diego, USA in 1992 and is held every three years. These conferences were established to promote and facilitate interdisciplinary knowledge on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic lumbopelvic pain. This is the first time the Congress has been held in the southern hemisphere, and acknowledges Australia and Melbourne as being at the cutting edge of research and clinical practice in this topic.
Support of the Congress has been sought from the United Nations and World Health Organisation to ensure the most relevant speakers, practitioners, policymakers and stakeholders are present from around the world. This is considered vital given that the human and economic costs associated with lumbopelvic pain are so significant in our society.
The program includes nearly thirty keynote speakers from around the world, many of whom are leaders in the field and well known to chiropractors and osteopaths. Some of the topics covered include; anatomy and biomechanics, evidence-based evaluation of effective diagnostic and therapy outcomes, pelvic girdle pain, exercise interventions and a day devoted to occupational back pain.
This truly represents a unique opportunity to hear the leaders in the field in our own backyard. COCA is very proud to be a supporting organisation of this congress and we have chosen to hold our AGM during the conference. Registration details are included in the conference brochure accompanying this issue of COCA News. Members of supporting organisations receive a discount on their registration. Plan now, and register early.
