Executive Director’s Report

John Jannese

COCA Annual General Meeting 2004
This year COCA held its AGM in Melbourne, during November. At the AGM our President Dr. Peter Werth had the honour of presenting COCA Life membership to Dr. Simon French. It has been my pleasure to have worked closely with Simon in his capacity as an active Executive member, over the past couple of years.

New Category of COCA Membership – Certified Practising Member (CPM)
At the AGM members voted to amend COCA’s constitution to include a new category of membership - Certified Practising Member (CPM).

CPM will be COCA’s highest membership category.

Early in 2005, the COCA administration will write to all members to acquaint them of their eligibility for award of the CPM, including what is required for each individual member to achieve CPM status.

In short, to attain CPM status members must fulfil the following criteria:

  • You have been in practice for at least 2 years,
  • You have completed all elements of COCA’s Risk management Program,
  • You have completed a COCA clinical audit cycle,
  • You have completed the equivalent of 200 points of continuing education in the past 10 years. Credit will be given for years of practice.
  • You have enrolled in the RACGP library service.

Remember, COCA will write to you regarding your accumulated education points and credits, together with further detailed information on how you can achieve COCA CPM status.

COCA Practice Accreditation Program is Launched at the 2004 AGM
The official launch of the COCA practice accreditation program was held at the AGM. President Dr. Peter Werth congratulated Dr. Jo-Anne Maire and members of her hard working committee for development of such a valuable resource for the professions of chiropractic and osteopathy.

In the September 2004 issue of COCA News both members and non-members were invited to order the accreditation program. Happily, I can report considerable interest and requests for the accreditation manual. An application form for COCA Practice Accreditation is contained elsewhere in this issue.

Compliments of the Season
I wish all COCA members and supporters a safe and happy holiday season and a professionally rewarding 2005.
