Vale Des Greaves

The Chiropractic and Veterinary Chiropractic professions were saddened by the news of the passing of Dr. Desmond Greaves on the 1st of September. Des passed away suddenly in Adelaide while working in his beloved profession as horse chiropractor.

Des has certainly left behind a legacy. He will long be remembered as a primary force, establishing the RMIT Animal Chiropractic course - a world first in the training of animal chiropractors in the University forum. He was passionate and unrelenting in establishing a level of professionalism in the application of chiropractic care for animals. Without his persistence it is unlikely the profession would be on such a sound footing today. Not only was he one of the people accredited with establishing the Masters Program but was also amongst its first graduates.

With a career as a horse chiropractor that stretches back 30 years, he was regarded as the corner stone of the profession. His regular journeys servicing his many clients took him all over the country and in fact to places as far as Dubai, Singapore, Japan and the United States. He was regarded by his peers with the utmost respect, and by his clients with fierce loyalty. Des will be sadly missed by his many friends in the chiropractic and animal chiropractic professions as well as his many clients. Our sympathies go out to his family.
