COCA members look out. The Journal of the College will soon be hitting your mailboxes once again. COCA is pleased to announce that the Journal will be up and running shortly with a new editor driving this resurrection. Chiropractor Sharyn Eaton was selected as the new editor and as you will see has excellent qualifications and experience to tackle this job.
Dr Sharyn Eaton currently holds a Senior Lecturer position at Macquarie University. She obtained her chiropractic qualifications in 1980 receiving awards in academic and manipulative excellence in her last 2 years of study. Sharyn has made a commitment to chiropractic education since 1983. She started working for Macquarie University, Department of Health and Chiropractic in 1995. Prior to this, she worked as a senior lecturer at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, England for 7 years and a tutor for the Sydney College of Chiropractic. Within this time, Sharyn also conducted a private practice and was involved with associateships in conjunction with her academic commitments.
During Sharyn’s professional career she was also awarded the Knox Medallion for services to the chiropractic profession. She obtained her Ph.D titled ‘The Physiological and Technical Characteristics of the Vibromyographic Signal’ from Southampton University in the U.K. and a qualification in Chiropractic Paediatrics from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Her research interests now also encompass ‘The effect of Mattress Firmness on the Musculo-Skeletal System’.
Sharyn has extensive experience in curriculum design and development particularly in the areas of Chiropractic Technique and Orthopaedics. At Macquarie University she has been lead lecturer in Chiropractic technique, Orthopaedics and Chiropractic Paediatrics delivering lectures to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
More recently, Sharyn has been appointed to the Education Committee of the NSW Registration Board. She is the Undergraduate Studies Director for the Department of Health and Chiropractic in addition to being a member to the Division of Environmental Life and Sciences’ Teaching and Learning’ Committee. Sharyn has also served as the Department’s representative on the Advisory board and Accrediting bodies (Joint Education Committee).
