The CHIRO-OSTEO is now an established brand in beds and is sold in every State of Australia, with the strong possibility of being exported to other countries. The Brand name is so strong that the manufacturers have used it on the new latex pillow the College has endorsed. The following is the story of how this very popular bed came into fruition.

In order for a mattress and base set to be endorsed by the College, the Executive Committee stipulated that the mattress needed to have a central support section for the lumber spine. Other specifications were that the Manufacturer needed to have representation throughout Australia, be financially stable and be able to produce high volume. Syd Sharp, our marketing consultant, spoke with several manufacturers and visited 3 factories before recommending Sleepeezee Bedding Pty Ltd, which is part of Mantzis Holdings, a family business. Sleepeezee had factories in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth with an excellent reputation in the bedding industry.

The College was aware of how important the spring system of a mattress is. There are several ways of adding strength to the centre of a mattress; some are effective but expensive while others are inexpensive but not very effective. The general opinion was that the most effective method of gaining extra support where it was needed was to put the springs closer together. This was a major task and very costly because of the labour content. Hand made samples were presented to a College Sub-Committee and finally approved by the National Executive Committee enabling Sleepeezee to start manufacturing these marvellous beds.

The time lapse between when the College first agreed to Sleepeezee becoming a potential supplier of endorsed products and the bed sets entering the market was 9 months, a long process that has proven to be worthwhile.

The CHIRO-OSTEO beds are now very well established in the market and the College and Sleepeezee have a new arrangement covering the next 10 years with the possibility of extending a further 10 years.
