World Federation Of Chiropractic Congress, Paris 2001
The World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) recently had their biennial congress in Paris, France.
The main focus was “The Science, Art and Philosophy of Chiropractic Practice from Youth to Age”. This was a popular event with Australian chiropractors with an estimated 65 out of 700 attendees from Australia. The WFC had something for every chiropractor including plenary sessions presented by the likes of Pierre Cote, Gordon Waddell, Alan Breen and Gert Bronfort. There were opportunities to hear the latest and best chiropractic research in platform and poster presentations.
Many Australians presented papers and posters. This covered research in basic science, clinical management, diagnostic sciences, and special interest. There were 11 workshops including adjustive care for children (a very popular session), adjustive care for seniors and cervical rehabilitation. There was also half and full day workshops available at the end of the conference including rehabilitation, adjustive techniques etc.
The final session which was the highlight for myself was a discussion on chiropractic philosophy by Alan Breen, Guy Riekman, Scott Haldeman and Sid Williams. How often does our profession see these four on the same stage. A standing ovation finished the session.
All this along with a social program and the city of Paris as the backdrop.
